Tennis Super Nationals off and running

Bear with me, coming off a vacation I'm a little behind the eight ball. But the USTA Nationals (aka Super Nationals) have begun. The Boys 16 and 18 tournament is being held in Kalamazoo, while the Girls 16 and 18 is being held in San Diego. They opened up play this weekend. Some of the early results are in. This tournament is as big as they come.

Boys 16 main draw
  • Connor Johnston (Northville HS/Novi) won his first match before losing in the second round (of 128)
  • Tim Wang (Novi) lost his opening match.
Boys 18 main draw
  • Michael Dube' (Catholic Central) won both his first and second matches of the tournament to reach the round of 64.
  • Jack Murray (Roeper) won his first-round match before dropping his second.
  • Max Fliegner (Country Day) lost his opening match.
  • Brett Forman (Troy) dropped his first match in the round of 128.
Girls 16 main draw
  • Dominique Vasile (Oakland Twp.) won her first match in three sets and her second in straight sets to reach round of 64.
  • Christina Jordan (West Bloomfield) won her first match before dropping her second.
  • Sophia Ableson (West Bloomfield) received a bye, then won her second match to reach the round of 64.
Girls 18 main draw
  • Alexandria Najarian (Cranbrook) fell in her first match (2nd round) Monday morning.
  • Lexi Baylis (Clarkston) dropped her first match.
