Time is running short, so I'm going to scale back this fall. Here are my predictions on each of the four divisions - Top 10 teams and flight finalists. Good luck to all this weekend.

Due to a long-overdue vacation and a cold start to the spring sports season, my girls high school tennis preview package did not come out until last weekend. One thing I noticed was that though the high-end talent that graced the courts in 2014 was for the most part missing, the depth of talent remained for most of the tennis teams throughout Oakland County.

On Sunday, we will begin to unveil our Top 50 Oakland County football players over the past 50 years on MIPrepZone. Our Scott Burnstein has done his research, talked to several current and past high school coaches, tweaked his rankings - it's done.
We will begin rolling them out, 10 at a time.
Who will make the list? There are 50 tremendous football players included. No time to waste. Here are my predictions for Divisions 1-2-3. I broke down everything, match by match, though I include just total points and championship finals here. Agree, disagree?

The tennis postseason is here - if you can believe it. The season has come and gone so quickly. Now it's time to see if all the hard work has paid off. Regionals are being held today (Thursday) and Friday. I will now give my predictions (below).
To qualify, a team must finish among the top two at its regional, or
finish with 18 or more points. At those regions where there are eight

I spent far too much time breaking down the brackets in all four divisions these past couple nights. Here's a look at what I came up with. As always, your thoughts are welcomed. Though, remember, these predictions are just that, predictions, not personal attacks on anyone. I've been known to be spot on at times, and off as well.

Sad to say it, but the tennis season is nearly over. But, with that being said, it's also the most exciting time of the year for Oakland County teams. Most set their sights on the state tournaments. And that's what we have left.

Some of us in the media were surprised when the OAA and MAC renewed its annual Showcase this season. The OAA has dominated the event since the MAC invited it to join in on the fun back in 2010.
On paper, or rather online in thisJason Schmitthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09994455702877956026noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-407779650285090657.post-86773158224560994222014-01-29T15:06:00.000-05:002014-01-29T15:07:09.287-05:00Some great hockey action on tap for Wednesday night
Last weekend saw a ton of great hockey action. I had a chance to see Lake Orion and Rochester United play to a 2-2 tie Friday night. The Dragons had a chance to claim a share of the OAA Red title, with a win. The next night, Clarkston played the spoiler, beating Lake Orion 4-0 and putting any sort of OAA Red title on hold for the Dragons.
Now, Lake Orion - which finished 4-1-1 in league play - Jason Schmitthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09994455702877956026noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-407779650285090657.post-74927334694388489202014-01-23T13:38:00.000-05:002014-01-23T13:43:40.790-05:00It was just a matter of time for Jayru Campbell
Many of you have probably already read reports of Detroit Cass Tech junior quarterback Jayru Campbell being arrested for slamming a security guard in the school's halls yesterday. The story has taken on a life of its own. That's going to happen when it centers around a top-notch commit to a top-five university such as Michigan State.
Call this piling on if you want. But for the record, we here Jason Schmitthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09994455702877956026noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-407779650285090657.post-81000713257560904432014-01-21T05:48:00.003-05:002014-01-22T06:28:36.118-05:00Showcase matchups all set
The field and schedule for both the MIHL and MPHSH showcases are set and ready to go. And there are a number of great matchups at both.

Now I haven't had the chance to get down to Detroit this week for the Winter Festival games being played at Comerica Field. No surprise to see so many local names all over the MHSTeCA's all-state teams, which were released today. Though this certainly does not make my job of picking an all-county team any easier.
As recent as two years ago, I chose an actual team (four singles players and four doubles teams) for first team all-county. I then upped that to eight Jason Schmitthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09994455702877956026noreply@blogger.com0
