Oakland County tennis continues to impress

Among the last things I wrote in my blog posting very, very late Saturday night was that Oakland County teams won 20 flight championships this past weekend in the four state tournaments. That number is impressive in itself. But considering there were just 32 flights in the four divisions, that's downright ridiculous.
Cranbrook led the way with seven flight winners. Sacred Heart won five titles, followed by Marian, Seaholm and Lahser with two each. Clarkston and Mercy also got in on the action, with one each. Below is a list of those winners.

Division 1
3-singles — Dana Olsen, Clarkston
2-doubles — Anna Hinrichs and Mackenzie Zierau, Mercy
Division 2
1-singles — Mollie Fox, Lahser
3-singles — Breann Lunghamer, Marian
4-singles — Meryl Reams, Lahser
1-doubles — Nancy Benda and Jackie Meier, Seaholm
2-doubles — Tatyanna Dadabbo and Sally Thoresen, Marian
4-doubles — Lauren Benderoff and Sam Lareau, Seaholm
Division 3
1-singles — Alexandria Najarian, Cranbrook
2-singles — Anna Short, Cranbrook
3-singles — Allison Motea, Cranbrook
4-singles — Sarah Lipworth, Cranbrook
2-doubles — Kendra Sweet and Christina Roualet, Cranbrook
3-doubles — Briana Letica and Holly Meers, Cranbrook
4-doubles — Lauren Lanzon and Emily Harvey, Cranbrook
Division 4
4-singles — Tate Lehmann, Sacred Heart
1-doubles — Kelsey Nagle and Emily Nash, Sacred Heart
2-doubles — Heidi Lemon and Sarah Spangler, Sacred Heart
3-doubles — Hannah Gerard and Kendall Lehmann, Sacred Heart
4-doubles — Elia Wilson and Gretchen Lemon, Sacred Heart

It's always easy to remember the champions, and so easy to forget those who came so close, who fought so hard and earned four big points for their teams — the runners-up. I won't do that. Here are those from the county who reached their flight finals, a feat 98 percent of the rest of the state would love to have accomplished.

Division 1
1-singles — Lexi Baylis, Clarkston
2-singles — Isabella Spindler, Clarkston
4-singles — Jessie Guindi, Mercy
1-doubles — Paige Olsen-Alex Whall, Clarkston
4-doubles — Julie Flanagan-Sarah Hinrichs, Mercy
Division 2
2-singles — Lauren Dietz, Marian
3-singles — Claire Markley, Seaholm
4-singles — Catherine Yaldoo, Marian
2-doubles — Rachel Wilson-Laine Boitos, Seaholm
4-doubles — Charlotte Garrison-Maddy Lorenz, Andover
Division 3
3-singles — Haley Mullins, Country Day
4-singles — Sarah Carroll, Country Day
1-doubles — Alissa Rowens and Meg Phyle, Cranbrook
