Yes it's been awhile since I last blogged. I generally take 1-2 days to calm down after the state finals. Then I get right to work on the all-county team. I just wrapped up selecting the team and writing up the stories.
Now it's just a matter of finding an appropriate day to run it in The Oakland Press and on MIPrepZone. Stay tuned. I will let everyone know when the team runs.

In the meantime, I want to congratulate several area players for their play at the recent SE Michigan qualifier tournaments (boys and girls). Next up: Indianapolis.

BOYS

• Max Fliegner (Country Day) beat Brett Forman (Troy) in the Boys 18 singles final; Michael Dube (Catholic Central) beat Ivan Rakic (Ann Arbor) in the 3rd/4th place match.
• Connor Johnston (Novi/Northville HS) beat Tim Wang (Novi) in the Boys 16 final; Kevin Rothstein (West Bloomfield) beat Franklin Brozovich (Port Huron Northern) in the 3rd/4th place match.

GIRLS

•  Alexandria Najarian (Cranbrook) beat Alex D'Ascenzo (WB Jewish Academy) in the Girls 18 final - in three sets; Mollie Fox (Lahser) defeated Bianca Moldovan (Livonia) in the 3rd/4th place match.
• Marybeth Hurley (Novi) beat Dominique Vasile (Oakland Twp.) in the Girls 16 final; Sophia Abelson (West Bloomfield) beat Halle Hyman (Rochester Adams) in the 3rd/4th place match.
