Congrats on a tremendous 2013 boys tennis season

Lakeland senior Alex Kim would make
a pretty good No. 4-5 singles player.
I want to first off congratulate each and every one of the county's tennis players on a great season. You all deserve a round of applause for all your hard work. Success followed with Country Day winning a state title. Novi, Brother Rice, Troy, Adams, Bloomfield Hills, Catholic Central and Clarkston all finished in the top-10 at the Division 1 Finals. Seaholm, Berkley, North Farmington and Groves were all top-10 in Division 2. And Cranbrook joined Country Day in the top-four of Division 3.
Congratulations to our regional champions: Brother Rice, Novi, Troy, Adams, North Farmington, Seaholm, Holly and Country Day.
Congratulations to our league champions: Brother Rice, Troy, Clarkston, Rochester, Avondale, Holly and Novi.

Let's experiment a bit
Now, on to something I thought would be fun. I always state - without truly thinking it through - that Oakland County could put together an all-star team and beat the best from the rest of the state. I've never pieced together a lineup, per se. But I thought it might be fun to think this through. So, using the formula that I have for my all-county team (top-8 singles players and top-4 doubles teams), I'd like to pick all-star lineups for Oakland County vs. The Rest of the State. High school players only, please. Below is the all-county team (with one alternate singles player and doubles team). I need your help. Please help me pick an all-star team from the rest of the state. Email me some singles players, some top doubles tandems. And we'll piece together a lineup. You can email me at jason.schmitt@oakpress.com, tweet ideas to me @JasonESchmitt or leave a message on this post. I'll do my homework as well and write up another blog post soon.
I'll get the list started by tossing out a few names here: Davis Crocker (Kalmazoo Loy Norrix), Connor Johnston (Northville), Garrett Goldman (East Grand Rapids), William Kirkman (Midland Dow), Jack Petersen (Huron). In doubles, Jason Chang-Vikram Shanker (Midland Dow) and Aaron Brodkey-Akihiro Ota (Huron). Send me your thoughts (more players, rank these players). Let's have some fun.

Mukherjee should be higher than alternate. Straight set season wins over Rothstein and Patel, as well as close three set losses vs Hyman and Wang

I can't deviate from the all-county listing, which did not include Mukherjee on the first team. Completely legitimate argument - no doubt. Lots of arguments to be had. Yes.
The way Mukherjee finished the season was night and day better than how he started it (straight set losses to Faber, Zhang and Hildebrand - plus a 3-setter to Rothstein). But overall, he did not make the Top-8.
